Oh, how I would love an all guys Opera Gala at Faenol. No soprano aloud, and preferable no tenors either.
Think about it, Bryn.

My dreamteam for an opera gala would be:

BRYN (even though he wants to hide backstage)
SIMON KEENLYSIDE
ERWIN SCHROTT
DMITRI HVOROSTOVSKY
ISABEL BAYRAKDARIAN (Armenian-Canadian soprano, singing music from Armenia is something of the most moving I have ever heard from a soprano ).

Who would be your dreamteam for an opera gala?

As well as lots of Bryn (naturally), I would love to see Juan Diego Florez - yummy - and his voice is pretty good, too!

I could do without the sopranos, but I'd like a couple of mezzos . . . My ideal lineup would be :

Bryn
Placido Domingo
Cecilia Bartoli
Bryn
Andreas Scholl
Guang Yang
Bryn

. . . and could I please have the job of giving the bouquets at the end???

How about a night of winners from Cardiff Singer of the World? He would have plenty to choose from - not just the overall winner but also the Leider Prize and the Audience Prize winners. I'd even be willing to widen it to the finalist from each year!

That should keep us going for a few years!

You are certainly keeping Bryn busy. No chance of hiding backstage.
Surely, there is only one Bryn?

Well! There certainly are lots of opinons! If it was an all baritone/bass night, I might have go into debt to fly from Washington to London, rent a car and drive to North Wales to see that! Very Happy Although I, too, like Juan Diego Flores! (And this from the woman who has always disliked tenors!)

My line up would be about like yours, Sue, at least for the Saturday Opera Gala and the Sunday evening (we just go to those two)!
There could not be too much of Bryn on those two nights!! Laughing Laughing
