Thanks for posting the link, Sue. I just voted for Bryn but unfortunately I have a worrying suspicion that Katherine Jenkins might win it.

Maybe Bryn could increase his chances of winning if he appeared in public more often wearing extremely low-cut pink sequin ballgowns???? Laughing

FAYE! As you are a respectable Essex lady I am shocked....giggling like mad

Second thoughts that man could get away with anything he wore!

To be honest, Bryn fan or not I'd have voted Faye. Anything to keep an award from Katherine Jenkins!

Yes, there aren't many men who can get away with wearing a sparkly ballgown and a tiara and still look attractive - but Bryn manages it!

I saw that same production of Faust a few months later with a different cast, including Sir John Tomlinson as Mephisto. The sight of him in the black dress just made my stomach turn. He played the part totally differently to Bryn..... more like a comedy pantomime villain and without the sense of danger that Bryn brought to the role.

During the scene in Act 4 where Mephisto is singing his mocking serenade to Marguerite then John Tomlinson was running his hands up and down the unconscious Faust's legs in a very gay way....it wasn't a pleasant sight and I'm so glad they didn't make Bryn act like that!!!!

I'm seeing Faust again in 2 weeks time and although I love this particular opera then it just isn't the same without Bryn as Mephisto. I really hope he'll consider singing this role again in the future because he was brilliant in it.

The trouble with the Classic FM awards is that it's often more a popularity contest then a true indication of who has the most talent. Therefore we shouldn't feel too disheartened if Bryn does end up losing out to the Lady in Pink.

In today's media-obsessed society then image is everything and it's Katherine's glamorous looks and personality, together with very good marketing that make her do so well. Her voice is nice and above average but if she'd been born plain and dumpy then I doubt her career would have progressed much further than a member of the chorus in an opera company.

Bryn has such an incredible talent that he doesn't need to use his looks to sell CDs!!!
